Welcome to Branching Pathways Counseling!
When life becomes overwhelming, we become burdened with a feeling of stuckness. The path forward becomes muddled, and we lose our sense of agency over the direction our life is taking. We feel as if our circumstances are dictating our steps, and the sense of possibility we once knew dwindles, dimming the light of hope that things can change in a positive way.
But no matter how stuck we feel, there are always more possibilities than we can imagine. When we restore our sense of centeredness in ourselves, we water the tree within our hearts, providing it sunlight for many branches to grow and flourish in new directions.
At Branching Pathways Counseling, it is my mission to help you restore a sense of autonomy and empowerment over the circumstances of your inner and outer life. Rather than feeling like the unwitting protagonist in a story written by someone else, I will work with you to reclaim authorship over your own story so that your day-to-day life aligns with your deepest values and desires.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), offering in-person and remote individual therapy in the State of Colorado. I specialize in ketamine-assisted therapy for adults who have tried numerous approaches in therapy and wellness yet still feel stuck in their desires to live a more fulfilling life. I have been trained in several modalities and combine them in a unique fashion to provide a person-centered, strength-based, goal-driven therapeutic environment focused on empowering my clients to make the changes they wish to make in lasting way.
Ketamine-Assisted Therapy
Ketamine-assisted therapy is a powerful, novel treatment modality for a wide variety of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction. I partner with a local psychiatric nurse practitioner to offer ketamine therapy via a prescription of oral lozenges and troches, which are taken in the safe and supportive therapeutic environment I foster. I specialize in working with clients suffering from anxiety disorders and chronic stress, for ketamine is an unparalleled tool for restoring a sense of inner peace that can be all but impossible to connect with under the immense pressure of day-to-day life.
My ketamine therapy protocol has a beginning, middle, and end. It typically takes place over a period of 12 weeks and involves a combination of traditional, 50-minute psychotherapy sessions and longer ketamine sessions. Based on your goals, we will work together to determine the proper dosing protocol, which will determine whether those sessions run for 2 or 3 hours. All ketamine therapy sessions take place in person, and they occur in a calm, spacious office. I provide curated playlists and studio-quality headphones, for music is an essential component of the experience. I also provide eyeshades, which are an optional but encouraged feature for clients to enhance the depth of the inner journey.
My Unique, Goal-Driven Approach
As a person-centered therapist, I recognize there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and thus I proceed according to each individual’s needs. Nevertheless, certain frameworks and guidelines prove helpful for a breadth of presenting concerns, and with their aid I provide a structured process to help you define your goals and move toward them each session.
If you have undergone traditional talk therapy with a variety of modalities yet still feel that you are dealing with the same, age-old problems, my approach is designed to help you feel the progress you have been seeking. I offer compassionate, non-judgmental support, but I am not content to be a mere sounding board. You come to therapy for specific outcomes, and that is exactly what I help you achieve. I do this through combining approaches and concepts such as:
Rewriting Negative Thought Patterns: The more we tell ourselves a story about ourselves, the more we believe that story to be true. Some stories are so deeply embedded that we cannot conceive of reality as anything different. Using tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy, I help you become aware of negative thought patterns, write a new and more positive story, and practice retelling the new story until you truly feel that it is valid.
Developing Self-Compassion: We are all our own worst critics. When we strive toward goals, it is easy to bully ourselves for our shortcomings. Though it may seem counterintuitive, we must learn to be compassionate toward ourselves exactly where we are on our journey, for as Carl Rogers said, “The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” With the aid of Internal Family Systems therapy, I help you develop self-compassion toward all parts of yourself, including those you have long wished would just go away.
Visualization and Mindfulness: Visualization is an incredibly powerful tool to ascertain where we want to be and how to get there. Through guided visualizations and imagery grounded in mindfulness practices, I help you feel into the qualities you wish to embody in your day-to-day life and make them a present reality rather than a goal for a distant future.
Habit Change: Ultimately, no matter how aware we become of our inner patterns, we will never change until we change our day-to-day habits. I help you identify unhealthy habits, and I help you develop a tangible, practical plan to change them in a healthier direction.
Training and Qualifications
My primary therapeutic training came through Naropa University, where I received a Master’s degree in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling. At Naropa, I learned to offer trauma-informed care grounded in awareness of the body in the presence of the therapeutic relationship.
In addition to this, I have undergone several additional trainings including:
Internal Family Systems (Level 2)
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy
Trauma-Informed Weightlifting
As an LPCC, I work under the supervision of Joy Gribble, a Licensed Professional Counselor and excellent guide in ketamine-assisted therapy and the humanistic tradition.
Pricing
Regretfully, I am unable to accept insurance as an LPCC. Nevertheless, I offer therapy at a lower rate than the average for the region, which I hope makes traditional and ketamine therapy more accessible for the Colorado community.
My rate is $105/hr. This same rate scales for ketamine-assisted therapy, so a 2-hour ketamine session is $210 and a 3-hour session is $315.* For a more detailed rundown of pricing over a full ketamine therapy protocol, please contact me at the link provided at the bottom of this page.**
*I am able to offer a few sliding scale rates at any given time. If one or more of these rates are currently available and you demonstrate financial need, I will be happy to work with you to try and find a pricing structure that works.
**For clients who wish to undergo a full ketamine therapy protocol, I offer the option to pay in full at the outset at a discounted rate.
